Overseas Testing Capabilities Upgraded: China 15MCC’s Indonesian Subsidiary Introduces Full-Scale Fire Assay Equipment
In the global non-ferrous metal mining landscape, the quality testing of precious metals is directly linked to the accurate assessment of mineral resources and the market pricing of final products. Recently, PT MCC15 Engineering and Construction (the Indonesian subsidiary of China 15MCC Group) successfully acquired a complete 24-sample fire assay equipment system. This marks a significant step forward for the company in enhancing its laboratory qualifications and deepening its technical capabilities.
The fire assay method is internationally recognized as a classic technique for analyzing precious metal content. Widely used across fields such as geological exploration, mine development, smelting, and third-party testing, it is highly trusted in the industry for its representative sampling, broad applicability, and superior enrichment capabilities. The system operates on the principle of high-temperature redox reactions, effectively separating precious metals from associated impurities at temperatures between 1,100°C and 1,300°C to enable high-precision determination of metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. Its technical advantages are notable, featuring temperature control precision of ±1°C, which significantly reduces the risk of errors associated with manual operation.

As a key strategic foothold for 15MCC Group in the Indonesian market, the subsidiary has undertaken construction and operations & maintenance tasks for numerous major industrial projects since its establishment in 2016. These include the Tsingshan Steel Xindabei Industrial Park pyrometallurgical nickel production line, the Huayue 60,000-ton hydrometallurgical nickel-cobalt hydroxide project, and the Indonesia Amman 900,000-ton/year copper smelting project. The deployment of this 24-sample fire assay system represents more than just an acquisition of laboratory equipment; it reflects a strategic shift from general construction contracting toward providing in-depth technical services. The system is capable of simultaneously processing 24 samples through the fusion and cupellation stages, drastically improving sample turnaround times and overcoming the bottlenecks of long processing durations and limited throughput associated with traditional outsourced testing. This equipment suite features robust construction and comprehensive functionality, typically comprising several core modules: a fire assay fusion furnace for melting ore samples with flux to form lead buttons; a cupellation furnace for processing lead buttons at high temperatures to yield silvery-white precious metal beads; and a forklift for loading and unloading crucibles, which reduces manual labor intensity while ensuring safety and efficiency during high-temperature melting and transport. Additionally, the accompanying consumables—such as crucibles and magnesia cupels—prevent precious metal oxidation during cupellation, thereby ensuring the reliability of data for subsequent weighing and analysis. The precision analysis system also integrates auxiliary tools such as a 0.1 mg (four-decimal-place) analytical balance, a crucible mixer, furnace shovels and rakes, and cooling racks. For the Indonesian company's existing mining and metallurgical projects, this equipment enables timely and accurate monitoring of precious metal content in incoming raw materials or semi-finished products, effectively supporting adjustments to upstream smelting ore-blending processes and quality grading of downstream refined products.

In terms of practical application, the technical value of this equipment is particularly evident in the systematic study of precious metal occurrence patterns within Indonesia's major ore deposits. Indonesia possesses abundant copper-gold polymetallic resources; typical high-sulfidation epithermal gold deposits and porphyry copper-gold deposits often contain associated high-grade gold and silver. With the introduction of this 24-position fire assay system, the Indonesian company gains in-house precious metal testing capabilities. This allows for rapid on-site chemical analysis of mined ore samples and intermediate smelting products, eliminating the uncertainties associated with traditional, time-consuming off-site testing and providing critical technical data to support on-site production organization and scheduling.

The introduction of this complete 24-position fire assay system not only significantly enhances the technical and equipment capabilities of China 15th Metallurgical Construction Group’s Indonesian subsidiary but also demonstrates the practical implementation of the company's strategy to expand its overseas business. While maintaining its leading position in core construction operations, the enterprise is further elevating its full-industry-chain local service capabilities through the development of technical support functions, such as laboratory testing and material analysis. In the future, with the official commissioning of these 24 fire assay units at the testing center of the Indonesia subsidiary, China 15th Metallurgical Construction Group’s Indonesia company is poised to achieve further breakthroughs in the intelligent transformation of its mineral and metallurgical testing operations, thereby continuously injecting innovative momentum into the Group's drive to become a world-class brand in non-ferrous metal engineering.
